Gesture Studies: Sketches in Clay

Recommended for animators!

The focus of this class is more on capturing the essence, rather than the anatomy, of a figure. Students learn to look at the actions involved in creating the momentum –the bending, twisting and force– of a subject. With these gesture sessions, students will develop an eye for capturing the initial impression of motion in 3-D form. This is a great way to build speed and accuracy in capturing human gesture and proportion. Students will create multiple clay studies from challenging timed poses. These six sessions will move at a quick pace to help re-train your brain to see and build multiple-dimensional pieces. This class would be great for storytellers and animators looking to improve their skills. All levels welcome. All tools, clay, model fees, and one firing per week are provided. Tuition: $325
