Bronze Casting

 

Here’s a great opportunity to learn and practice the ancient lost-wax casting process while creating a 3-dimensional bronze sculpture in the only hands-on foundry in Austin! Starting with a clay or wax sculpture (figurative or abstract) each person will learn to make an alginate mold and wax positive, sprue and vent their piece, make an investment, cast in bronze, and then chase and patina their finished piece. This class is limited to 10 students. All levels welcome. All tools, clay, wax, investment materials, and patina chemicals are provided.  There is a 20-pound limit per piece. The price of bronze fluctuates and is an additional charge.  Tuition $375
